Wear Orange Day 2017

Wear Orange Day takes place on Monday 8th May. Pupils may bring a donation to school to help raise funds for children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) in Ireland.


Peer Tutoring

Peer Tutoring will take place over the next 8 weeks for all pupils from 1st – 6th class. Peer Tutoring is a paired reading system which fosters fluency, vocabulary development, comprehension skills and self-esteem. It takes place 4 days per week over a half hour period. P.T. is recommended both as a strategy for improving reading standards and as a means to building self-esteem and confidence.

 

One Good Idea

Congratulations to our four 6th class pupils who have made it to the SEAI One Good Idea final in Croke Park on the 16th May. This year all pupils 1st – 6th are invited to the finals in Dublin to support the “Fooderinos”.

A bus will depart from Rahara NS @ 7am and should return at 5pm approx. Pupils should wear their full school uniform and bring a large packed lunch and 2 drinks.

Following the awards we will take a guided tour of Croke Park. We will stop at Apple Green Service Station enroute home for burgers & chips. The junior infants & senior infants will have a normal school day under the care of Ms. Irwin.


Sports day

Sports day will take place in June. The date is weather dependent but a text will be sent to parents before school to inform pupils of the event.


Standardised Testing

Standardised testing in literacy and numeracy will take place over the coming weeks. Please ensure your child does not miss any days from school unnecessarily and please ensure your child comes to school at 9:20am sharp.


Green Schools Award

Congratulations to all pupils as they have received notification that we were successful in completing our 7th Green Flag for Global Citizenship – Energy.

The 6th class pupils will attend the award cermony in Hodson Bay Hotel on 24th May. They will also perform their fooderino’s presentation and rap for all the guests.!


Our Green Flag ceremony will take place in the school on Friday 16th June @ 12noon. Minister Denis Naughten will preside over our ceremony and the Army Band will perform on the day. We hope to have a great celebration and welcome all family and friends to our important event!


School Tours

The senior pupils will attend Baysports, Athlone on Friday 2nd June. The bus will depart Rahara NS @ 9:30am and return @ 3:30pm. The cost of the tour is €45 per pupil.

The junior pupils will visit Glendeer Pet Farm on Friday 2nd June. They will leave Rahara NS @ 9:30am and will return at 2pm. The cost of the tour is €20

 

Summer Works Scheme

Summer works grant has been awarded to our school to refurbish and upgrade the existing toilets. This work will take place during the summer holidays.


6th Class Graduation Dinner

6th class graduation dinner will take place on Tuesday 27th June.


Summer Holidays

School will close on Friday 30th June @ 12:30pm


The 2017/2018 school calendar will be sent out with the school reports in June.
