Eamonn's Story

An artist came to the school in December.
His name was Lawrence Kelly.
He brought a big bag of clay.
First we started off by making the model of our pottery.
We had great fun rolling the clay.
Lawrence helped us at the start and gave us ideas.
He showed us how to make different shapes using the clay. We made coils and wrapped them together to form a pot. Some made people, soap dishes, monsters. He took all our models back to his workshop and fired them in his kiln.The second day he came we painted some of our pieces and glazed others. He showed us how to make the glaze. Lawrence brought all the glazed pottery to his workshop in Galway to fire them. We got the pottery back in a few days. We enjoyed our pottery workshops.
