In November 2001 Rahara N.S decided to do a project on the Euro .
It was a project for the European Young Consumer Competition organised by the European Commission.
We had to report on the introduction of the Euro and inform people about the event.
All of fifth and sixth class formed a team called Rahara Euro Presenters (R.E.P's)
We sent questionnaires to business people, banks, post offices, schools, visually impaired people, and our parents.
We got information on the old Irish money and the new Irish money and the Euro.
We found out how the European Monetary System works.
When we got back the questionnaires we put all the data together.
We made a powerpoint presentation of all our information.
We went to the Convent of Mercy Roscommon and made our presentation to the second years.
Then we had a public information evening in the school.
It was very interesting.
We came second in all of Ireland in the 11-14 category.
