Our School

Rahara National School is a two teacher school located 8 miles from Roscommon town and 12 miles from Athlone. Rahara is a small village located near the shores of Lough Funshinagh, the ‘disappearing lake’ or turlough.

 

The staff of Rahara N.S. consists of Mrs. Aoife Mc Gowan, Principal and Junior class teacher, Ms. Niamh Watson, Deputy Principal and Senior class teacher, Mrs. Kathy Dolan is our shared S.E.T. ,Mr. Ollie Connaughton covers Principal release days every Wednesday and Ms. Elana Quinn is our EAL teacher. We have visiting coaches for Gaelic, Soccer, Hurling and Tennis, throughout the school year. Our secretary, Lynda Pearce, works in Rahara N.S. on Monday and Thursday. Our cleaner/caretaker is Padraig Lohan. Mrs Teresa Nally runs our Afterschool Club, Monday-Thursday.

 

We have two large classrooms equipped with Chromebooks and 3 interactive whiteboards plus a large GP hall, staff room/kitchen, office and toilet facilities. The school is wheelchair accessible. We have a large playing field to the north of our school building with a large tarmac yard/court and shelter to the west of the school.

The Lunch Bag  provide Hot School Meals to all pupils in our school Monday to Friday.
