Advent calendar
This year’s Advent Calendar was a great success which included lots of fun and treats. Some of the activities that took place: movie day, pizza making, no homework, art all day, Christmas annuals, Christmas jumper day, hot chocolate, extra break time, no Friday test, and a ‘Great Big Christmas Quiz’ hosted by Mr. Connaughton!
Mass
All pupils attended mass in Rahara Church on 8th of December to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The children performed during the ceremony and afterwards we were delighted to have members of the congregation over for tea, coffee and baked goods.
Absences
We are obliged to inform (TUSLA) the statutory Educational Welfare services of the child and family agency if a child has missed 20 days or more in the school year. If your child cannot attend school please provide the school with a written note or email outlining the reason for the absence. For further information see www.tusla.ie.
Cash for Clobber
Thank you for supporting our Cash for Clobber collection in November. We will have another collection in the New Year.
STEM
We were thrilled to have been successful in our STEM grant application for €10,000. We will put the grant to good use in our school to further develop & promote STEM learning
Christmas Holidays
School closes for the Christmas Holidays at 12:00 on 22nd December and re-opens on Monday 8th January 2024

Book Bills will be sent out in the New Year
Soccer Lessons will commence in the New Year. Children should wear their P.E gear every Wednesday
SSE
School Self-Evaluation: Our school's new focus for SSE beginning this year is Wellbeing. The school has started the process this term and will involve everyone in the school community pupils, parents/guardians and school staff in this new cycle over the coming months. Please take the time to fill in the questionnaires that were emailed to you. Thank you
Shoebox Appeal
A massive thank you to all the pupils and families that donated to our Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. We were blown away by your kindness & generosity and donated a car full of shoeboxes to Dealz for the appeal.
Say Yes to Languages
We are delighted to be taking part in the ‘Say Yes to Languages’ primary language programme commencing in term three. Pupils in the senior room will be learning French with their tutor.
Elfie Doolittle Saves Christmas
The junior room attend the Talisman Theatre Company Panto on the 13th of December with Ms. Dolan & Ms. Mc Gowan in the Dean Crowe Theatre. Great fun was had by all
The Dome
The Senior Room enjoyed a brilliant day out in the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence Dome on 22nd of November. They enjoyed a range of skills, activities & games throughout the day.
After School Club & Morning Club
After School & Morning Club will resume with Teresa Nally on Monday 8th January. All After School club fees are to be paid to Ms. Watson at the start of each week. Please ensure your child brings a healthy snack for After School Club as this is part of our schools Healthy Eating Policy.
Rahara Tidy Towns Committee
Well done to Rahara Tidy Towns Committee & all involved who did an amazing job lighting up Rahara as well as the fantastic work that they have done in the community over the past year.
