Healthy Lunches

Well done to all pupils in Rahara N.S. There has been a huge improvement in school lunches since the introduction of our new healthy eating policy. Remember one treat on Fridays only!!!

 




School Self-Evaluation

Thank you to all parents who have returned the SSE questionnaires. Please return all remaining questionnaires by Friday 19th January. We greatly appreciate your feedback and your comments can provide us with valuable insights into what is working well and what can be improved in our school.

 



Green Flag Biodiversity

We are appealing to parents for donations of materials to help build our bug hotel. All old pipes, red bricks, logs, old phone books, slates etc would be greatly appreciated. Please look around your houses to see if you have any to donate.


 



Retirement Party

Thank you for all your donations of cakes and treats for the party. It was greatly appreciated. All surplus food was donated to the soup kitchen in Athlone.

 




Catholic Schools Week

We will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week during week of 28th January. This year’s theme acknowledges the faith community in which the Catholic school is rooted. One of the most important things parents can teach their children is that God loves them always.

 




Senior Room

We are currently learning about life during World War II in SESE. Pupils are completing fact files and researching information about World War II and the Emergency. Pupils have constructed dioramas from shoe boxes in art depicting a scene from our poem ‘London, Spring 1941’.

“A house bombed,

blasted sideways,

the roof blown clean away.”

 




Junior Room

The junior room have been learning about primary and secondary colours. They created beautiful paintings using these colours.


They are learning about the weather and are learning the song “Mr. Sun”.

 




Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons commence on 28th February. All pupils attend these lessons and the cost of same will be confirmed at a later date. On swimming days parents may attend Roscommon Leisure Centre to assist their own children with drying and changing.

 




Dates for your Diary

First Confessions will take place on Wednesday 13th March at 7.30 p.m.

First Holy Communion will take place on Sunday 5th May 2013 at 10am

Confirmation will take place in Knockcroghery Church on Wednesday 10th April 2013 at 11am

 




Staff Meeting

School will close on Thursday 31st January at 2.00 p.m. for all pupils to facilitate a staff meeting.

 




Mid-Term Break

The school will be closed on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th February for mid-term break.

 





Uniforms

P.E. lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On P.E. days pupils may wear plain (no logos or stripes) dark grey / navy / black tracksuit bottoms.

 





Opening Times

School starts officially at 9:20am. The BOM and staff cannot accept responsibility for pupils before 9:20am.
